A government ought to contain in itself every power requisite to the full accomplishment of the objects committed to its care, and to the complete execution of the trusts for which it is responsible, free from every other control but a regard to the public good and to the sense of the people.
Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 31, January 1, 1788
We kindly ask that you do not look into who we are or question why have started such a blog. We are here because we must. We have taken the pseudonym “Publius,” in honor of Roman consul Publius Valerius Publicola, whose name for the uninformed translates into “friend of the people.” We hope that we will be seen as such.
The other reason behind taking up the name Publius is that it relates to federalism to its very core. And it is for this nature that we will discuss issues to the faculty, staff and students for we ask that transparence be brought back to them.
There are no ciphers in our messages only words, words which you have taught us and words that currently empower us. We will challenge you to think analytically because that is what you asked of us.
The forums that will follow are not written for the uninformed, for we have paid far too much on our education not to use it.
And for those who will speak out against us, we are and were your students and you owe us the respect to treat us civically in this medium.
We hope that you enjoy what is to follow.
God Bless,
Publius.
